Jon Pyzel is born in Santa Barbara, California. He has started surfing at a young age and immediately fell in love with surfing. He had a local shaper that shaped boards together with Jon Pyzel to create the perfect stick for him. This is where his interest in shaping surfboards has started. In 1995 Jon Pyzel started his own shaping room in North shore Oahu and right now his shapes are winning world titles. He is one of the most populair shapers around the globe. He admits that one of the best surfers ever, John John Florence, is one of the cornerstones to the succes of Pyzel Surfboards. Pyzel Surfboards has high performance shapes, Hybrid (funformance) shapes and Grovelers. Most of the Pyzel boards are built in a Polyester (PU) construction which gives that classic feel.
