4mm Wetsuits Women

The in-between. A 4/3 wetsuit is made for spring, early summer and early autumn, and for those changeable Brouwersdam days when the sun is out but the wind keeps it fresh. Too warm for your 5/4, too fresh for your 3/2? This is your suit.

A 4/3 has 4mm neoprene around your core and 3mm on your arms and legs. It's the step between your winter suit and your summer suit. No more wrestling with your 5/4 on the beach, and no more shivering in a 3/2 when the wind picks up.

Fit still matters here. A 4/3 should feel like a second skin, snug around your neck, wrists and ankles, without restricting your movement. Sizing differs per brand, so always check the size chart or ask us for help.

Summer in full swing? Then it's time to switch to a 3/2. Heading into the colder months? Check our 5mm wetsuits or our winter wetsuit guide. Not sure which fits your sessions? Come by the shop, we'll help you figure it out.

When do I wear a 4mm wetsuit?

A 4/3 is the one suit that works across the seasons. It's not made for one moment, but for all the moments in between. That's why it belongs in every wardrobe, whether it's your first wetsuit or your third.

In spring. When the season kicks off and your 5/4 starts feeling heavy, the 4/3 is your first step back into freedom.

On fresh summer days. Not every summer day is a shorty day. Cloudy mornings, evening sessions and days when the wind picks up call for a little more warmth.

During long sessions. Planning to stay out all afternoon? A 4/3 keeps you comfortable long after a thinner suit would have you heading for the beach.

When kiting or winging. Wind chill cools you down fast when you're riding above the water. A 4/3 lets you enjoy a windy session without getting cold.

In early autumn. When summer fades but the sessions keep coming, your 4/3 lets you stretch the season. Add neoprene booties and you'll go even longer.

On trips. Heading somewhere where the conditions aren't tropical? A 4/3 is the safest suit to pack.

Own just one wetsuit? Make it this one. Own several? This is the one you'll wear most.

How to choose your 4mm wetsuit

When should I wear a 4/3 wetsuit?

A 4/3 is made for spring, early summer, early autumn and fresh or windy days in summer. It's the in-between suit: warmer than a 3/2, lighter and more flexible than a 5/4.

Is a 4/3 a good first wetsuit?

Yes, it's the most versatile choice. A 4/3 covers the longest part of the season, so if you're buying your first wetsuit and don't know exactly when you'll ride most, this is the safest pick.

4/3 or 3/2: which one do I need?

If you want one suit for most of the year, go for a 4/3. If you mainly ride in high summer on sunny days, a 3/2 is more comfortable. Many riders own both: the 3/2 for peak summer, the 4/3 for everything around it.

Can I wear a 4/3 in summer?

Yes, on fresher, cloudy or windy summer days, and during long sessions. On hot, sunny days with little wind it can feel too warm. If you're sweating before you're wet, switch to your 3/2.

Can I wear a 4/3 in autumn or winter?

In early autumn, yes, especially with booties. Once it gets properly cold, a 5/4 keeps you warm and on the water longer. Check our winter wetsuit guide for more.

How should a women's 4/3 fit?

Like a second skin: snug around your neck, wrists and ankles, with no loose folds at your lower back or under your arms. Women's suits are cut for a woman's body shape, which helps keep water out. Sizing differs per brand, so check the size chart or come try it on.

Can I get advice before I buy a wetsuit?

Absolutely. Send us a message or come by our shops at Brouwersdam or Ouddorp Duin to try suits on. Tell us how, where and when you ride, and we'll help you find the suit that fits.
