4mm Wetsuits Men

The in-between. A 4/3 wetsuit covers the seasons around summer: spring, early summer, early autumn, and every fresh, windy day in between. When the sun is out but the wind keeps it fresh, this is the suit you want.

A 4/3 has 4mm neoprene around your core and 3mm on your arms and legs. That makes it the perfect bridge between your winter suit and your summer suit. You get enough warmth for long kite and wing sessions in the wind, without the bulk of a 5/4 or overheating before you've even hit the water.

Fit is everything. Your 4/3 should be snug around your neck, wrists and ankles, with no loose folds and full freedom in your shoulders. Every brand fits differently, so check the size chart or ask us before you choose.

High summer and sweating before you're wet? Time to switch to a 3/2. Riding into the colder months? Check our 5mm wetsuits or our winter wetsuit guide. Not sure what fits your sessions? Come by one of our shops and we'll help you out.

When do I wear a 4mm wetsuit?

If there's one wetsuit every rider should own, it's a 4/3. It's the suit that bridges winter and summer, and it covers more sessions than any other thickness. That's why it's our most popular one.

When the season starts. Spring is here, your 5/4 feels like armour, and you want to move again. Time for your 4/3.

On windy days. Kiting and winging mean lots of time above the water in the wind. A 4/3 gives you the warmth to stay out and push your session, without the bulk of a winter suit.

When summer isn't quite summer. Grey skies, a fresh breeze, early mornings or late evening sessions. Not every summer day is shorty weather, and the 4/3 handles all of them.

For long sessions. When the conditions are on and you don't want to come in, a 4/3 keeps you going.

In early autumn. The crowds are gone, the wind is back, and the season isn't over yet. Add neoprene booties and keep riding.

On trips. Surf trip to a destination that isn't tropical? Pack your 4/3.

One suit for most of the year? This is it.

How to choose your 4mm wetsuit:

When should I wear a 4/3 wetsuit?

A 4/3 is made for spring, early summer, early autumn and windy or fresh days in summer. It's the in-between suit, and it covers more sessions than any other thickness.

Is a 4/3 the best all-round wetsuit?

For most riders, yes. It's warm enough for the in-between seasons and flexible enough for surfing, kiting and wingfoiling. If you only want to own one wetsuit, a 4/3 gives you the longest season.

4/3 or 3/2: which one should I buy?

If you ride from spring to autumn, go for a 4/3. If you mainly ride in high summer, a 3/2 is more comfortable. Many riders own both, so they're covered in every condition.

Is a 4/3 good for kitesurfing and wingfoiling?

Yes, it's one of the most popular suits for kiting and winging. You spend a lot of time in the wind, and a 4/3 keeps you warm enough to stay out without limiting your movement.

Can I wear a 4/3 in autumn or winter?

In early autumn, yes, and booties help you stretch it further. For proper winter sessions, a 5/4 is the better choice. Read more in our winter wetsuit guide.

Do I need booties with a 4/3 wetsuit?

Not always, but on fresh days and in spring and autumn, neoprene booties keep your feet warm and give you better grip. Cold feet are often what ends a session first.

Can I get advice before I buy a wetsuit?

Absolutely. Send us a message or come by our shops at Brouwersdam or Ouddorp Duin to try suits on. Tell us how, where and when you ride, and we'll help you find the suit that fits.
