3mm Wetsuits Men

The summer workhorse. A 3/2 wetsuit covers most of the summer: long sessions, sunny days with a breeze and everything in between. If you only grab one suit all summer, it's probably this one.

A 3/2 has 3mm neoprene around your core and 2mm on your arms and legs. You get warmth where it matters and freedom where you move. That makes it a go-to for surfing, kiting and wingfoiling all summer long, at the Dam, at Ouddorp Duin and on most summer trips.

Fresh mornings, lots of wind or getting cold quickly? Then a 4/3 keeps you out there longer. Not sure which fits how you ride? Come by one of our shops and we'll help you figure it out.

Which thickness do you need?

There's no single number that tells you which wetsuit to wear. The season, the wind, the sun, how long you're out and how quickly you get cold all play a part. Kiting or winging? Then the wind counts even more. Here's how our summer range breaks down.

1mm neoprene tops: for hot days and warm water

Barely-there neoprene. Wear it with boardshorts for a bit of warmth and wind protection, without the full suit.

2mm wetsuits: for the warmest days

The true summer suit. Shorties and short sleeve suits for full sun, light wind and warm-water trips. Light, flexible and made for peak summer.

3/2 wetsuits: for most of the summer

The summer workhorse. Warm enough for long sessions and a breeze, flexible enough for surfing, kiting and winging. If you're on the water all summer, this is the suit you'll grab most.

4/3 wetsuits: from spring to early autumn

The all-rounder. It handles fresh mornings, windy days and the in-between seasons. Only want one wetsuit? Start here.

Getting cold easily, riding in lots of wind or planning long sessions? Go one step thicker. Still not sure? Send us a message or come by one of our shops. We ride in these suits ourselves, so we'll tell you honestly what fits your sessions.

How to choose your summer wetsuit

What should I look for when buying a summer wetsuit?

Start with the right thickness for how and when you ride, then focus on fit: snug everywhere, with no loose folds and full freedom in your shoulders. After that, look at the zip type and seams. Sealed seams and a chest zip keep more water out.

How to choose the right wetsuit thickness?

Look at when, where and how you ride. The season, wind, sun, session length and how quickly you get cold together decide which thickness works for you. Thinner suits give more freedom, thicker suits keep you warm longer. When in doubt, go for the thicker option.

What's the difference between a 1mm 2mm, 3/2 and 4/3 wetsuit?

The thickness of the neoprene, and with that, how warm the suit keeps you. With two numbers, the first is the thickness on your torso and the second on your arms and legs, so a 4/3 has 4mm on your core and 3mm on your limbs. Thinner means more freedom and less warmth. Thicker means more warmth and a longer season.

Do I need a wetsuit in summer, or are boardshorts enough?

On hot days with warm water and little wind, boardshorts with a rash guard or a 1mm neoprene top can be enough. As soon as the wind picks up or you're out for longer, a 2mm or 3/2 keeps you comfortable much longer.

Do I need a thicker wetsuit for kitesurfing or wingfoiling than for surfing?

Often, yes. When you kite or wing you spend more time out of the water in the wind, and wind chill cools you down fast. Many riders go one step thicker than they would for surfing on the same day.

Are women's wetsuits different from men's wetsuits?

Yes. Women's wetsuits are cut for a woman's body shape, usually with narrower shoulders, a shorter torso and more room at the hips. That better fit keeps water out and makes the suit warmer and more comfortable than a men's or unisex suit in the same thickness.

Can I get advice before I buy a wetsuit?

Absolutely. Send us a message or come by our shops at Brouwersdam or Ouddorp Duin to try suits on. Tell us how, where and when you ride, and we'll help you find the suit that fits.
