First Impressions & Why It's Built for Big Air
The V1 was already one of the best Big Air kites on the market. The V2 takes everything that worked and pushes it further. Faster loops, more lift, a lighter build, and a structure that stays composed when conditions get extreme.
We caught up with Mart Spierings, Slingshot rider and Natural High regular, to get his first impressions on the new Code NXT V2. Here's what he had to say.
What is the Slingshot Code NXT V2?
The Code NXT V2 is Slingshot's flagship Big Air kite, built for riders who are serious about performance. It delivers serious Big Air lift with a smooth, controlled feel it boosts high with solid hangtime, while staying predictable and stable in strong wind.
What sets the V2 apart from the V1 is that it has been completely redesigned, while keeping the core feel that riders already loved. Slingshot athlete Jeremy Burlando describes it best: "We've focused on enhancing the hangtime, lift, and float that riders loved in the V1, making the Code NXT V2 an even more exciting kite to ride." Jeremy calls it the Silent Killa, because it speaks through feel, not force.
V1 vs V2: what actually changed?
These are the five key improvements in the Code NXT V2:
1. 20% faster, cleaner loops The trailing edge has been completely redesigned. Slingshot calls it CODE95. Less drag, faster loops. Not harder, cleaner. You feel the difference immediately.
2. Significantly improved vertical lift A refined arc combined with weight savings throughout the airframe means you go higher and hang longer. The boost feels more vertical and more repeatable.
3. New 7-point fixed bridle In overpowered, gusty conditions, the structure of the V2 holds. The new 7-point fixed bridle locks everything in place, even when things get sketchy.
4. Lighter, stiffer, more responsive Updated leading edge and seam construction make the V2 noticeably lighter than the V1. You feel it when you pick it up and you feel it in the air. Faster response, more direct control.
5. Calmer, more intuitive steering pressure Less pressure on the bar, more control. Especially in gusty winds, the V2 feels composed and easy to read. It asks less of your hands and gives more back.
Who is the Code NXT V2 for?
If you're a rider who is already looping, wants to push into New School Big Air, and needs a kite that performs when you push it, the Code NXT V2 is built for you. It's for riders chasing progression, looking for faster loops, and wanting a kite that holds up in the most demanding conditions. At a recent kite surf event, the highest jumps were all landed on the Code NXT V2.
If you're still building confidence or riding on a budget, the V1 is currently in our sale and it's still an excellent kite. Shop here.
